About EvanstonThe City of Evanston, with a population of about 12,000, has modern health facilities (urgent care and hospital), two major grocery stores, numerous restaurants, unique downtown shopping area and a Super Wal Mart. Recreation opportunities abound in Evanston with an 18 hole golf course, public tennis courts, a recreation center with olympic size pool and great fishing on the Bear River or Sulphur Creek Reservoir. A walking and bike path runs just behind the RV Park through the Bear River State Park.
This is an excellent location for an evening stroll to view the local bison and elk or to take the kids to the stocked fishing at Evanston ice ponds to try their luck (kids under 12 don’t need a license). Evanston also boasts a historical downtown district with a renovated Union Pacific Railroad Depot, Chinese Joss House with artifacts from a local archeological site and a local museum.
During the summer, Evanston is host to live paramutual horse racing at the Wyoming Downs Race Track. Racing runs on weekends from June through August. You’ll also be able to see a rodeo every other Friday and Saturday night throughout the summer.
